Bitterroot Home Inspection, Inc. offers water testing for bacteria and nitrates/nitrites through an established lab in Missoula. We offer this service along with a home inspection to help the process of purchasing a home go just a little bit smoother. Results are generally obtained in 2 days for the bacteria test and 1-2 weeks for the nitrate/nitrite test. There are also tests available for metals, please determine what metal(s) you would like the water tested for and we'll check with the lab for availability.

Bitteroot Home Inspection, Inc. is now offering Radon Mitigation as a new service. Randy successfully completed an EPA approved radon mitigation program at Rutgers University, is certified by: Rutgers University, National Radon Safety Board. The program at Rutgers University was both text book and hands on, utilizing all of the equipment which is necessary in determining the success of a radon system and actually working with the radon remediation equipment.         *Note: All short term (less than 4 days) radon tests will require closed house conditions for at least 12     hours prior to the test. It is recommended that 12 hour prior closed house conditions for tests lasting up to 7 days be maintained. Long term tests, longer than 90 days may be done under normal living conditions.

        *Closed house conditions:

1. All windows must be closed.
2. All exterior doors can be used for entry/exit but must otherwise remained closed.
3. Central Heating/Cooling systems can be used.
4.  Window Cooling units can be used as long as they are set on (recirculate inside air).
5. No home air exchange units like: Heat Recovery Units or Whole House Fans can be turned on.
6. Short-term tests, less than 4 days long, should not be conducted during severe storms or periods of unusually high winds (> 30 MPH).
7. Permanent radon mitigation systems should be functioning for 24 hours prior to and during the measurement period.

These rules set forth by the EPA helps to ensure a more accurate radon measurement eliminating the expense of retesting.
